Rooster is a male chicken also called as cock and female chicken is called
hen. Rooster guards the nests when the hen is nesting. When hen is about to
give chicks then at one time it is not possible for rooster to guard all the
nests.
So he just guards the over all area where his hens are nesting so that no
one enters that area. They are very active in nature and are very fast. Rooster
uses his sharp beak and claws to protect hens.
They usually sit at the top of the tree or the place or sit mostly 4-5 feet
above the ground level where he can clearly see any flock entering the area.
When any one enters the area, rooster alerts everyone by sending a distinctive
alarm and makes the hens and other roosters aware of the predators.
