Mockingbird can generally be found from the northern United States to Mexico. Mockingbirds are known for their ability to imitate the songs of other birds. The common mockingbird is about 10 12 inches (27 centimeters) long. It has a wingspan of about 14 inches (36 centimeters). Its body is ashy gray on top and paler gray below. Its wings and tail are both marked with white.

Mockingbirds are primarily insect-eaters. They also absolutely love fruit but will eat most anything. They will sometimes feed on crayfish, lizards and even small snakes. Mockingbirds form long - term pairs and together build cup - shaped nest about 3 - 10 feet off the ground in the branches of small trees, bushes, or vines.

The female lays 2-3 eggs at one time and the male defends the territory from the predators, anything from another bird, snake, dog, or even a person too close to their nest. Mockingbirds are found in just about every habitat type in the state. Mockingbirds are one of the few birds found in every kind of habitat, from desert to forest to city.
